Paul Gillespie

Managing Director

Paul has been the Managing Director of Heyrod construction since 2010, a company in which he has been working for since the age of 16 when he started on site as a Joiner. He worked on site as a Project Managers Assistant through college and university and now holds a level 7 in Construction Management. He worked as a Project Manager between 2001 and 2003 before moving in to the office and becoming a Contracts Manager, and later the Construction Director.

Since taking over as Managing Director the business has expanded its capabilities and has worked on some incredible projects, such as; Media City, Leeds Oncology, Manchester Joint Hospital and the Proton Beam. Paul brings a wealth of knowledge in Groundworks and Concrete frames, with Value Engineering, build ability and innovation.

Denis Quirke

Commercial Director

Denis began his career with Heyrod in 1988 as a trainee quantity surveyor, assisting the existing commercial team. From there he progressed to the role of Quantity Surveyor beginning with smaller projects and progressing quickly to larger projects as the redevelopment of Salford Quays began.

When the company moved to their current Head Office in 1990, further QS’s joined the company as our portfolio widened. A commercial team quickly built up and in 2005 Denis became Commercial Manager heading up a team of surveyors as the workload increased. Denis has been commercial lead on some of our largest projects to date including The Sage, New Oncology Wing at St James Hospital in Leeds and St Helens and Whiston Hospitals. In April 2017 Denis took over the role of Commercial Director, following the retirement of our previous Commercial Director, Don Malpass.

Debbie Wedlock

Financial Director

Debbie Wedlock joined Heyrod as Finance Director in October 2022. She is a FCCA with extensive experience of the construction industry, across a broad range of disciplines, including HR, ICT, project management, company secretarial and legal compliance. Experience of mobilising and working on Major Infrastructure Projects across the UK. Previous experience gained in varying sectors. Updating and implementing new finance systems and processes and building highly performing teams in a variety of business sectors whilst maintaining a strategic approach to the main risks facing the organisation and delivering Group objectives.

Jim Ness

Contracts Director

Jim has been in the construction industry for 50 years and is still enjoying being involved in the building of new developments. He started his career as a quantity surveyor and has been a member of the RICS from that time onwards.

The first part of his career was with an international Construction company, during which time he held the position of regional chief surveyor of the north-west of England. He changed his career path into a more broader base which included operational as well as commercial matters and has held the position of operational, commercial and regional director. He has been with Heyrod 23 years during which time his position has been Contracts Director. He has a vast and diverse range of experience in all aspects of building.
